What Makes Eve’s Cakes Special?
Signature Recipes and Flavour
She have always made cakes that are famous for a moist crumb and a delicious frosting. Always goes the extra effort to ensure that cakes are not dry and dull, but are rich and flavoursome.
Many cake recipes have become so popular that we call them her Signature Recipes.
Eve’s Carrot Cake is Famous From Her Farmers Market Days
Which she attended in St. Catherine’s Park in Lucan and Pushy Park in Terenure. It became so famous that many people only came to the market to pick up a loaf of Eve’s Carrot Cake. Ingredient that make it special are made out of freshly grated carrots, dark muscovado sugar, raisins and walnuts. The delicious loaf is topped with cream cheese frosting. Divinity in a slice!
Another One of Her Signature Recipes Is Red Velvet Cake.
Red velvet cake is bright red with a light crumb, and topped with a Mascarpone frosting. Her own Mascarpone recipe makes them especially luxurious. Chocolate biscuit cake is another very popular flavour. It is made with crunchy biscuits, Irish butter and melted Belgian chocolate.
Her own current favourite cake flavour is Salted Caramel buttercream. She says that a touch of salt adds a perfect balance to otherwise sweet cake.
For Her 2021 Cake Designs…
She follows cake decorating trends that are emerging from America, Canada and Australia. She has developed her own creative flair to design boutique like cakes which is a unique offering in Dublin.
She is a master of making macaroons and these are her go to for decorating cakes. They add elegance and luxury to every cake. Cakes are also decorated with mini meringues, dried fruit, buttercream flowers and fondant decorations. Macaroons are also available as wedding and party favours.
Another of her favourite decoration is a drip effect. It can be achieved with melted chocolate or a water based mix. The drip mixture if carefully set on the side of the cake so that is overflows and forms a stunning drip effect around the edges of the cake. This is another unique offering in Dublin.
In 2019 she further completed training under Alexander Kislitsyn Master Class in Barcelona. During the Master Class Eve perfected many new flavours and patisserie like recipes. She continues to test new decorating skills and new cake flavours.
Facts About Me
I have raised 4 children, three boys and a girl (as a single mother). This is the biggest accomplishment in my life, and all of them have grown into wonderful people. As they are grown up now, I have the time and energy to focus on what I am passionate about which is making beautiful cakes.
I am a real foodie. When I was a child we had a vegetable patch and a greenhouse. I have always been around food, and enjoyed baking and cooking from a young age. This is something I have passed on to my children, and many of them work in the food industry.
I enjoy being part of the community and support local businesses. Every Saturday morning I am at the Honest2Goodness Market in Glasnevin, buying my food and vegetables for the week ahead. I try to follow a eco-friendly lifestyle as much as possible.
I really enjoy experimenting with new flavours and new cake designs. I feel the taste profile in Dublin is still modest but I believe in the next few years people will be looking for more adventurous cake flavours and styles.
I enjoy making fabulous elegant cakes. That look apart and become a showstopper at any celebration. Currently my motto is “the taller the better…” which isn’t always very practical but it does make a cake really stand out. The tallest single tier cake I currently make is 6” wide and 10” tall. That is one beautiful tall cake!
