These are our new buckwheat cupcakes. You ask why would anyone want buckwheat in their cupcakes? Well, it is simply because these cupcakes are fluffy and scrumptious and they are gluten-free.
Please note whilst these are gluten-free, they are not suitable for people with celiac disease, as we use wheat (gluten) and rye (gluten) flour in the kitchen. However, they are great for people who consciously are trying to reduce the amount of gluten they have in their diet.
Buckwheat is one of the great grains that gives a good rise and a great flavour for a gluten-free option. The buckwheat adds a slightly earthy tone and is a more flavoursome sponge than a plain wheat flour sponge. But when you top it with frosting, you will not be able to tell a difference. We top these cupcakes with buttercream or Ganache as per your preference.
